The Road to Nashville | Day 1 of Maine Trip

June 11, 2015

It’s been quite a while, huh? Life has been rough the last couple of months. College was winding down and I had a ton of projects and finals to take. Now that it’s summer, I should hopefully have some more time to focus on this blog. I will be traveling quite a lot this summer, so for my first post back, we have a little update from my current road trip. We are heading to Maine for a week and stopping in a few cities to be tourists and see more of the states that we pass through. Let’s get started, shall we?

So, we are at the end of our first travel day. It’s currently 9 at night and I’m sitting by the pool at our hotel, while Haley and Morgan swim. I already took a shower, so I’m just sitting here typing this up on my phone.

We left Houston around 12:30am today (June 10th) and started our 12 hour trek to Nashville, TN. Haley had the first driving shift, Morgan had the second, and I had the third. I slept most of the way, so I could be awake when it was my turn to drive. We passed through Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. I didn’t see the Louisiana or Mississippi state signs, so hopefully I’ll catch them on our way back.

I started driving around 8:30am and drove the rest of the way (which was 6 hours) to our hotel in Tennessee. I got to see the Alabama state sign and tried to take a photo, but it came out blurry. Although there was a lot of construction, Haley and I had a really good time scream-singing old throwback songs. We also jammed out to TV theme songs, which was really funny. Kind of wish we got that on video, but we’ll have to recreate that later.

Once we got into Tennessee, we went straight to our hotel in Murfreesboro to check in. We were going to get ready and head to Nashville (which is 30 minutes away), but we decided (since it was already 3:30pm) to go get food nearby and then chill by the pool at our hotel.

We went to eat at Steak N Shake. I was going to get a milkshake, but I was too full at the end of my meal. After eating we went to Walmart to get socks for Morgan, but we got distracted. While Haley was trying on bathing suits, Morgan and I were hula hooping in the middle of the store. We got a lot of looks, but we had fun. I was going to buy the hula hoop, but we couldn’t find a price scanner.. Boo.

And now we’ve come full circle. I’m still sitting by the pool. There are a lot of fireflies out tonight, which is really neat. I’ve never seen one in real life before, so I’m super stoked to see them. We are going to go inside now and probably head to bed pretty soon, so we can get an early start tomorrow.

And that’s really all that’s happened so far. We’ll be going to DC and New York tomorrow, so I’ll hopefully have a lot more photos and stories to share. In the comments below, let me know of your favorite place to go. I’d love to hear about them.

All the love, B.
