TXWB’s Farm-to-Table Dinner | A Little Recap

November 20, 2014

I had the opportunity to attend the Texas Women Bloggers Network’s first event on November 15th. It was called the Farm-to-Table dinner and it was a chance for all of us bloggers in Texas to meet up and talk/network with each other. I had a lot of fun and am so glad I went. I was definitely nervous, but turns out it wasn’t so bad. Since I’m new to the network, I haven’t formed the friendships that the other ladies had already formed, but everyone was really welcoming and nice to me.

There were four sponsors; Urban Acres, Market Street, Lost Oak Winery, and Lick Honest Ice Cream. The event was hosted in the Urban Acres warehouse and the set up was so beautiful.

For the first course, we got a Butternut Squash soup that Market Street made for us. It was so delicious. I was a little nervous about it considering I’ve never had a squash soup, but I loved it. I’m a huge fan of baked potato soup, and this was really similar. Our next course was a kale salad, which was prepared for us by Urban Acres, and it was okay. I’m not a huge kale fan, so I wouldn’t exactly ask for my opinion, haha. 🙂

Our main course was brisket with a side of squash. The brisket was so tender and not at all dry. I greatly enjoyed that course. I love brisket and don’t get to eat it as much as I would like. The last thing we had was ice cream from Lick Honest Ice Cream. There were three flavors; Honey Vanilla, a chocolate one, and a pumpkin one. I had the Honey Vanilla and it was delish. I’m usually a plain vanilla type of person, but let me tell you, I have found a new favorite. The honey didn’t overpower the vanilla, but it just added a subtle hint of sweetness.

Now each of these courses was paired with a wine from Lost Oak Winery. I cannot give my input on them though as I am not yet 21, (I will be on December 13th though!!) and cannot drink. There was Sweet Tea and water for those unable to drink, so I was able to drink something. 🙂

After eating, we got the chance to just stand around and mingle with each other. I got to meet so many new people and they were all so sweet. I believe I was the youngest there, but I really enjoyed chatting about everyone’s families. At the end of the night, we took a group photo. This isn’t everyone, as some had already left, but this is the majority of the ladies who attended the dinner.

I want to formally thank Taylor and Jennifer for setting up this dinner. It was the highlight of my month. I really enjoyed getting to talk to each one of you. It’s nice to be able to put a voice/face to the name and blog.

If you live in Texas, and are interested in joining the Texas Women Bloggers Network, I really urge you to join. We are a group of loving and supportive women, and I have loved being a part of this network (in the short time I’ve been here). <3

Thanks for reading.

xoxo
